Robert L. "Bob" Cox

Robert L. "Bob" Cox of Farmington passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, at the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 27 days. He was born May 5, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, son of the late Leroy Cox and Helen Marie (Underwood) Weston. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Diane White and Dixie Morgan, a brother, Jim Dees, and his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Cox. Mr. Cox retired from a long career in mine safety for Buzzi Unicem USA, working at the Cape Girardeau plant and more recently at the Festus Plant. He was a former member of the Farmington and Doe Run School Boards and the Doe Run Park Board. In his spare time he enjoyed singing in a gospel quartet. Bob enjoyed all sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ruth (Wigger) Cox of Farmington; a son, Dennis Cox of Farmington, two daughters, Bobbi (Mrs. Edward) Donze of St. Louis and Patti (Mrs. Thomas) Tobin of Nixa; grandchildren, Matt Donze and wife, Jodie, Adam Donze and fiance, Katie, Kyle Cox and wife, Lori, Andrea Alcorn and Michael Tobin; great-granddaughters, Eva and Anna Cox, Emma Donze and Madison Donze; three brothers, Mike Weston, Wayne Weston and Skip Weston; seven sisters, Marilyn Politte, Carolyn Forbes, Jackie Portell, Debbie Kline, Angie Reese, Carol McClain and Margie Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the medical staff of Parkland Health Center of Farmington and St. John's Sisters of Mercy in St. Louis for their compassionate care during his illness. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009. Visitation will resume Tuesday at 7 am with the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Cozean Chapel with Dr. Noel Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery.
