Robert Francis Strickland

FARMINGTON - Robert Francis Strickland, 75 of rural Farmington, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his residence. He was born July 8, 1938 at Farmington, son of the Late Sylvester and Georgia Ann (Barnes) Strickland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters; Marie Cunningham, Peggy Meggison, Edna Strickland, and Doris Copeland, and a brother Roger Strickland. Mr. Strickland proudly served his country in the US Army for over twenty years retiring in 1989. Following his retirement from the Army he worked for Hussmann Refrigeration in St. Louis, retiring in 2000. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, scraping for metal, and taking the grand kids on tractor rides. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley (Sullins) Strickland of Farmington, two daughters Stacie (Mrs. Donnie) McDowell of Farmington, and Robin (Mrs. Michael) Steinbecker, Jr. of St. Louis, two grandchildren, Michael Steinbecker, III and Riley Steinbecker, a sister Judith (Mrs. Jim) Gilliam of Bonne Terre, three brothers, Johnny (Wilma) Strickland of Sprott, Dale (Sharon) Strickland of Sprott and Billy Strickland of Desloge. and numerous other relatives, neighbors, and friends. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Friday, February 28, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1st in the Cozean Chapel with the Reverend John Kee officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the Little Vine Cemetery at Sprott. Memorials may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
