Robert Earl Petrie Jr.

Robert Earl Petrie, Jr. of Farmington passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 8 days. He was born on July 10, 1937, at Ste. Genevieve County, son of the late Robert Earl and Mable (Hall) Petrie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, James Keith Ruble. A long-time member of Three Rivers Baptist Church, he was a former director and member of their choir which was a great source of enjoyment for him. He belonged to the I.O.O.F. Lodge and was a former member of the Flat River Rotary Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, reading and flower gardening. He was an avid fisherman, liked Morel hunting and just being in the outdoors. He hunted frequently and trained his bird dogs, Blimey and Snuggles. Before his retirement, he worked 34 years as Laboratory Director for Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. During his nine years of retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ann, cooking and reading. He is survived by his wife, Ann Petrie; his children, Robert Jeffery Petrie, Michael Lee Petrie and his wife, Peggy, Deborah Denise Gray, Velina Gay (Mrs. Joel) Critchlow, Sheri Jean (Mrs. Mark) Halbert, Anthony Wayne Petrie; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandsons; two brothers, David Petrie and his wife, Glenda and Lloyd Petrie and his wife, LaVerne. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Visitation will resume on Sunday from 10 a.m. until the service beginning at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. David Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery in Farmington.
