Robert Donald Bob Rapp of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Parkland Health Center at the age of 82 years. He was born on September 28, 1925, in Flat River, the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Brown) Rapp. He was also preceded in death by a sister, June Sparks and her husband, Murphy. Mr. Rapp was a retired local businessman. He had owned and operated Butterfield Florist and Greenhouses, several radio stations, a mobile home business and owned several local properties. He attended Flat River Junior College and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Forestry. Bob proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps in World War II and the U. S. Air Force in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 416 and the VFW Post 5896, and a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge 1765 for 53 years. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Martha (Roberts) Rapp, a son, Jerry Rapp and fiance, Karen Lewis of Pilot Knob, a daughter, Janice Halley and husband, Alan of Farmington, four grandchildren, Greg and Katie Rapp, Adam Halley, David Halley and wife, Katy, and a brother, Glenwood Rapp and wife, Wilma of Rock Hill, SC. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008. Visitation will resume at 7 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. Rick Broadway officiating. Burial will be at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be given to the USO in St. Louis, or to the Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington.
