Robert "Bob" W. Cleland

Robert Bob W. Cleland of Farmington passed away April 20, 2008 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center at the age of 85 years. He was born September 24, 1922, in Newark, New Jersey, son of the late William W. Cleland and Margaret (Wolcott) Cleland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita and one brother, Donald W. Cleland. Bob enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 30 years before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. During his time in the Navy, he served in World War II in the Pacific Theater, the Korean Conflict and was actively involved in the Pacific during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Farmington V.F.W. Post 5896, attended the Farmington First Baptist Church and enjoyed weekly visits around downtown Farmington with his friends from Cozean Memorial Chapel, Botaniques on the Square, Mineral Area Office Supply, New Era Bank and the Farmington Public Library. He is survived by a son, Robert W. (Melissa) Cleland Jr. of Pueblo, CO, two daughters, LaVaune (Jesse) Sitzes of Farmington, and JoLynn (James) Johnson, of Camdenton, MO, grandchildren, Cheryl R. (Marvin) Griffin of Kyle TX, and Patrick W. (Nichole) Cleland , San Antonio, TX, Tamara P. Cleland and Kayla M. Cleland of Pueblo, CO, Kathryn L. (Greg) Gold and Gregory L. Sitzes of Springfield, MO, Jennifer L. (Mike) Wassenaar and Rebecca L. Sitzes of Farmington, MO, Matthew L. (Nikki) Johnson of Goldsboro, NC, Jarred W. Johnson, and Desiree L. Johnson of Camdenton, MO, 3 great-grandchildren, Heather Few, Ashli Cleland, Emily Gold and a sister, Elizabeth Mihaly, of Somerville, NJ. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 25, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. with a V.F.W. service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 7 a.m. on Saturday, with a funeral service at 12 noon at the Cozean Chapel with Dr. William Miller officiating. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial may be made to First Baptist Church of Farmington or The Gideons International.
