Richard Thomas King

FARMINGTON Richard T. King, of Farmington, passed away May 10, 2018 at Country Meadows Nursing and Rehab in Park Hills at the age of 70. Richard was born in Ironton, Missouri on November 5, 1947 to the late Orville William King and Glenda Gladys (Kinder) King. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Randel Gordon King in 2015.

Richard grew up in Farmington where he graduated from high school as salutatorian in 1965. While in high school Richard was honored as the local winner of Time Magazines 29th Annual Current Affairs contest in Mr. Minks class. He went on to attend the University of Missouri, Bakersfield College and Cal State in Bakersfield, California. He proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U. S. Army in Vietnam. Richard was kind, caring and nurturing to his family. He was humble and respected by his fellow residents at Colonial Retirement Home in Bismarck, Missouri where he resided for many years spending his time reading and reflecting until he was called back by Our Lord and passed peacefully Thursday, May 10, 2018.

Survivors include his brothers, Michael (Valerie) King of Newbury, England and Ronald (Carmel) King of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Charlotte (Charles) Bates of Topeka, Kansas, and Sharon King of Farmington; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service in the Cozean Chapel at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Webb officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials if desired may be made to the charity of donors choice.
