Richard "Rick" Dean Briggs

FARMINGTON - Richard "Rick" Dean Briggs of Farmington, passed away January 8, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 69. He was born in Independence, Iowa on September 27, 1948 to the late John Robert and Lois May (Steffen) Briggs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy Briggs.

Rick grew up in a large farming family in Iowa and went on to have a long career as a carman-welder with the railroad industry. He retired after 38 years of working for the railroad. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt, fish and tour the countryside on his motorcycle. His willingness to help others will be remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Rebecca (Pralguske); two sons, Chris Briggs and Benjamin Briggs; brothers, Leo Briggs, Gary Briggs and Mike Briggs; sisters, Terry Mazur, Cathy Timmerman, Sandra Briggs and Diane Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
