FARMINGTON- Richard Lee Comte, 66, of Farmington, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014. He was born November 17, 1947 at Bonne Terre, son of the late Cletus Norbert and Anne Helen (Siudut) Comte. Mr. Comte grew up in the Farmington area and was a 1965 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School. He enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country for four years during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1969 having attained the rank of Sargent. He attended Mineral Area College, Forrest Park Community College, UMSL, and the University of Hawaii. He graduated with a degree in Fire Technology Industrial Safety, and worked as a firefighter and medic for 35 years with the Community and Chesterfield Fire Departments. Richard also owned and operated the Comte Construction Co. and Comte Properties. After retiring in 2006 he returned to Farmington and took over management of the Comte Cattle Co. on his Thousand Oaks Farm near Doe Run. He is survived by his children, Brian Comte of Farmington and Jennifer Comte of Arnold, brother Albert Comte of Farmington, sister Pat Halasz of Arnold, seven grandchildren Natalia Comte, Alaina Krumm, Jessica Krumm, Kaylin Krumm, Steven Krumm, Tyler Comte, and Jacob Comte and numerous other relatives and friends. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory on Thursday, January 30 2014 from 5 to 6 p.m. with a funeral service following at 6 p.m. with Chaplain Nancy Smith officiating.
