Richard John Augustine, Jr.

FARMINGTON Richard John "Rick" Augustine, Jr., was suddenly taken Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the age of 58 from a motor vehicle accident. He was born August 5, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Ruth Catherine (Nicolson) Augustine and Richard John Augustine, Sr. who survives.

Rick grew up in Spanish Lake, Missouri and graduated in 1976 from Hazelwood East High School. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Truman State University and later went on to SEMO where he earned his Master's Degree and Specialist Degree in Education with advance study. Rick, a life long educator, started his teaching career at the West County School District before becoming Director of At-Risk Programs for the Farmington School District. Under this title, he served as the principle of the Midwest Learning Center in Farmington. He also worked at the PAYS Program and the Farmington Middle School. After 25 years of teaching, he retired from the Farmington School District. He then worked for Division Youth Services as a mentor at the Cape Girardeau facility. Currently he was employed for the Missouri Department of Corrections in Farmington as an instructor.

Rick was at outgoing, cheerful person and proud father. He was a passionate role model and mentor to the kids that he helped. An avid outdoorsman, Rick enjoyed kayaking, hiking, swimming, and riding his motorcycle on a beautiful day.

Survivors include his daughter, Rikki Marie Augustine of Lawrence, KS and son, John Joseph Augustine of Springfield, MO; his father, Richard (Ellen Kaye) Augustine, Sr. of Florissant, MO; two brothers, Donald Martin (Darice) Augustine of St. Charles, IL and Thomas Wesley (Lisa) Augustine of Wildwood, MO; his former wife and mother of his children, Donna Anderson of Farmington; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 5 8 PM. A memorial service will be held at New Heights Church, 4982 Flat River Rd., Farmington, MO on Thursday, September 29 at 10 AM with Rev. Rocky Good officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Heights Church, Farmington Children's Home, or BackStoppers.
