Richard Frederick Pritchett

November 7, 1931 — July 15, 2012

Richard F. Pritchett, Sr. passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012, at the age of 80. He was born on November 7, 1931, at Keyesville, MO, son of the late Frederick Thomas and Ethel Muriel (Counts) Pritchett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carol (Killian) Pritchett; his daughter, Pamela Shetley; two brothers, Jack and Bill and a sister, Norma Killian. Richard grew up in the area and attended school at Washita School. He went to work at a very young age working as a farm hand. When he was 19 years old he married Carol Killian and they raised their family on a farm near Doe Run. From the age of 16 years old, Richard worked for the State Hospital Number 4 in Farmington where he began working in the dairy barn. He retired from the State Hospital as a plumber after 38 years of employment there. In retirement Richard enjoyed coon hunting and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Richard is survived by his daughter, Dana (Mrs. Randy) Nielsen, sons, Richard R. Pritchett and wife, Deborah and Joseph Pritchett, all of Farmington Brothers, Fred Pritchett and wife, Bonnie of Pleasant Hope, MO, John Pritchett and wife, Mary of Boerne, TX, Tom Pritchett and wife, Marilyn of Ironton and a sister LeAnna Pritchett of Springfield, MO; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are two very special friends, Delno Halter and John Lenz. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory from 5 to 8 on Tuesday, July 17. Visitation will resume on Wednesday beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service beginning at 10 a.m. with Pastor Charley Shrum officiating. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery in Doe Run. Memorials may be made to the Washita Baptist Church.
