DOE RUN Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church, Richard Alvin Chessey of Doe Run, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his residence at the age of 84 years. He was born on January 20, 1932 at Granite City, Illinois son of the late Alvin Milford and Mary Laura (Doyle) Chessey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters.
Richard was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington and was a retired Contract Estimator for the former McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors, but mostly he enjoyed being with his family and friends.
He will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou (Parks) Chessey of Doe Run, six children, Mary A. Chessey of Park Hills, Michael A. Chessey of Downingtown, Pennsylvannia, Mark A. Chessey of Doe Run, Margaret A. Chessey of Creve Coeur, Martin A. Chessey of Rigby, Idaho and Maureen A. Chessey of Doe Run, twelve grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and dear friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Rickey Valleroy officiating. Interment will follow at the New Calvary Catholic Cemtery in Farmington. Memorials, if desired, may be made in the form of Masses.
