Raymond Easter passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008, at his residence, at the age of 82 years. He was born on September 25, 1925, in St. Francois County, son of the late James Thomas and Birdie (Sides) Easter. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Collier, two sisters, a half-sister, and a half-brother. Mr. Easter served his country with the U.S. Army in W.W. II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Before his retirement, he was employed as a mechanic for the St. Joe Lead Company. He was a member of the Norman L. Rigdon VFW Post 5896 and the American Legion Post 416. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nellie Marie Miller, two grandsons, Jason (Debby) West of the state of Colorado and Drew (Erin) West of Owensville, MO, great-granddaughter Bailey West, great-grandson Benjamin West, great-granddaughter Raegan West, and great-grandson Garret West. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2008. Visitation will resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday with a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Cozean Chapel with the Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Memorials may be given to St. Francois County Relay for Life.
