Ralph Edwin Kennon

Ralph Edwin Kennon of Farmington passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007, at NHC Healthcare, at the age of 92 years. He was born on October 29, 1914, in Perry County, the son of the late William and Katie (Miller) Kennon. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Betty Scott, and brothers, Lester and Ray Bud Kennon. Mr. Kennon was an active member of the Crossroads 1st Church of God, where he was a life-elder. He loved to read and study the bible, becoming a bible scholar. Mr. Kennon was a hard worker all his life as a farmer and school bus driver at Coffman. He also had worked in a machine shop, was a truck driver for St. Francois County Highway Dept., and an Aide at SEMO Mental Health Center, from where he retired. Throughout all his life he was an avid gardener and enjoyed coon hunting with his coon dogs. He is survived by his wife, Katheryn (Staffen) Kennon, children: Shirley Pinkston (Fred) of Cuba, MO, Maxine Sands (Elmer) of Fulton, MO, James Kennon (Kathy) of St. Charles, John Kennon (Mary) of Park Hills, Linda Robinette (Jerry) of Farmington, Paul Kennon (Penny) of Farmington, and Wanda Rivera (Rudy) of Arlington, TX, brothers, Chalmer Kennon of St. Louis, and Emmett Kennon of Jackson, sister, Gladys Heberlie of St. Marys, aunt, Bertha Kennon of Fredericktown, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, other relatives also survive. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2007. Visitation will resume at 10 a.m. on Sunday with a funeral service to be held at the Cozean Chapel at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Payne officiating, and Pastor Kendall Hughes assisting. Burial will follow at Whitewater Christian Cemetery in Perry County.
