Phyllis Jean Wigger

January 22, 1930 — February 3, 2022

FARMINGTON Phyllis Jean Wigger of Farmington, passed away February 3, 2022 at Presbyterian Manor Assisted Living at the age of 92. She was born January 22, 1930 in St. Louis to the late Alfred Allen Hill and Alta Mae (Brown) Hill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Alfred Allen Hill, Jr., Alberdeana Hill, Billie Sue Hill, Gladys M. Coffield, Henry Allen Hill and a sister-in-law, Peggy Hill. Phyllis grew up in Delassus and moved to Farmington in 1943 during her freshman year of high school. She graduated with the class of 1947 from Farmington High School. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from December 1946 until October 1955. She also worked for Superior Loan Company and Missouri Natural Gas before beginning a career as a case worker for the Division of Family Services in the state of Missouri from where she retired. She was a member of United Memorial Methodist Church and a 50+ year member of the Eastern Star. Her family will always remember her wonderful meals, her love and her devotion. She loved music, dancing and playing cards. She loved to read, and at one point, she read to the residents at Presbyterian Manor that could not see to read. She believed that she was part of the staff. Her family always came first in her life and she was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her three children, Howard (Jane) Wigger, Marsha (Steve) Hennrich and Chris Wigger; her special beloved niece, Janet Lashley; six grandchildren, Brian Wigger, Alex Wigger, Brandon Gray, Jason Moseley, Brooke Thebeau and Ryan Wigger; six great grandchildren and her brother, William (Karon) Hill. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Cozean Memorial Chapel beginning at 1 pm until the funeral service at 3 pm in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Ron Beaton officiating. A private interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Wigger's name to the Presbyterian Manor's Good Samaritan Fund or to American Cancer Society.
