Phyllis Ann Eller, of Farmington passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the age of 60 years. She was born June 17, 1953, in Millington, TN, daughter of Delmar Lee Elders and Virginia Marie (Woods) Elders, who survive. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert Monroe and Mary Ellen (Wray) Elders and Ralph Edward and Bessie Etta (Lawson) Woods; and her father-in-law, Billy G. Eller. Phyllis grew up in an Air Force family and lived in various locations around the country until moving to Farmington at the age of 11. After graduating from Farmington High School in 1971 she went on to college at MAC and SEMO where she graduated in 1975 with a BS in Education. In 1981 she received her Master's Degree from SEMO in Elementary Administration. On November 25, 1978 she married the love of her life, Gary G. Eller, in Farmington. In 1986 they were blessed with a daughter, Allison Marie, who was the light of her life and her best friend. She taught for over 31 years in the Farmington School district where she touched over 3000 young lives. In 2006 Phyllis retired from teaching and enjoyed her new role as "Nana" to Haylie Marie. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, as well as a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School where she served as a substitute teacher. Phyllis loved being able to share the love of Jesus with her students at St. Paul. She was an avid reader of novels, loved the outdoors and traveling with family. In addition to parents and her husband of 35 years, Gary, she is survived by her daughter, Allison Eller, her granddaughter, Haylie Marie and another granddaughter on the way, Hannah Phyllis Ann Eller; sisters, Marcia (Tom) Buckley and Lisa (Jon) Bird; nieces and nephews, Bethany (Andy) Sherrill, Sarah Eller, Ryan (Caity) Buckley, Mallory (Philip) Mistretta and Ross Ledbetter and fiance, Holli Hoehn; mother-in-law, Fran Eller; brother-in-law, Michael (Laura) Eller; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many special friends and former students. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Joseph Jacob, Nurse Practitioner, Nancy Johnson, and the staff of St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for their exceptional care given to Phyllis and her family during the last few months. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning at St. Paul Lutheran Church beginning at 9 a.m, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor James King officiating.
