Perry Clifton Willmore

September 28, 1922 — June 11, 2014

Perry Clifton Willmore of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the age of 91. He was born on September 28, 1922, at West Frankfort, IL, son of the late Logan and Eva (McClintock) Willmore. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Perry grew up in West Frankfort where he graduated from High School. After attending business school in St. Louis he went on to proudly serve his country in the U. S. Army during WWII where he commanded radio operations during the storming of the beaches of Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning to civilian life, Perry married Eula Walters in 1947 in Union City, Tennessee. The same year he began a career with the P. N. Hirsch Company where he was employed as Manager and later continued with the company's successor, Dollar General Store, until his retirement at the age of 80. In his spare time Perry enjoyed golfing and fishing. Survivors in addition to his wife include three children, Sharon (Larry) Nelms, Perry Dale (Penny) Willmore and Phillip (Dee) Willmore; four grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson, Shawn Polidoro, Valerie Willmore and Logan Willmore; six great-grandchildren, Bradley, Nicholas, Charlie, Peyton, Jaxson and Sam; two step-grandsons, Chris and Todd Hulsey; and a host of extended family and good friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. A private family interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
