Penelope "Penny" A. Elrod

Penelope "Penny" A. Elrod of Farmington passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010 in her home at the age of 62. She was born on June 27, 1948 in St. Louis the daughter of the late Edward E. Elrod and the late Beatrice B. (Brewington) Bukowsky. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia A. Elrod. Penny was raised in Fredericktown where she graduated from high school in 1966. She later taught English and Drama in the Fredericktown High School prior to becoming the Placement Coordinator with Mineral Area College where she was employed 21 years. She was active in local area Chamber of Commerces as well as other civic organizations. Penny also pursued her love of theatre with her participation in many local productions. Traveling, reading, and dancing were her passions. Most of all she relished her time spent with friends and family. Penelope is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ronald Stevens, step-daughter, Tamara L. (Mrs. Jeff) Beckman of Cookeville, TN, her twin grandsons, Zachary and Tyler Beckman and a host of many good friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, November 21 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel with parish rosary beginning at 6 pm Visitation will resume on Monday morning from 7 to 10 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at Marcus Memorial Cemetery at Fredericktown. Memorials may be made to the Parkland Foundation or Farmington Pet Adoption Center.
