FARMINGTON -Pearlie Mae Underwood of Farmington passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at her residence in Farmington at the age of 77 years. She was born on June 16, 1939 at Esther daughter of the late William Andrew and Maude Sedonia (Williams) Johnson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Johnny Underwood, Jr., a daughter, Brenda Sue Ratcliff, six brothers, Charles Johnson, Bill Johnson, Jack Johnson, Jim Johnson, Joe Johnson, Lee Brankensick and Frankie Johnson, and three sisters Susie Johnson, Pauline Johnson, and Mary Lange.
Pearl grew up in and around Esther and Flat River and was a 1957 graduate of Esther High School. She later went on to continue her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse and went to work for Farmington Community Hospital, now Parkland Health Center. She then went into business administration, working in long-term care facilities until retiring. She was a member of the Hurryville Free Will Baptist Church where she attended faithfully for many years.
She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her including her husband Joesph D. Rayfield of Farmington, three daughters, Regina K. Steininger of Rolla, Marsha A. Norden of Park Hills, and Gayla L. Mayberry of Farmington, a son Johnny D. Underwood, III of Fredericktown, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives, dear friends, and neighbors.
Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday after 7 a.m. until the time of the service in the Cozean Chapel at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Matthew Prihoda officiating. Interment will be in Hillview Memorial Gardens at Farmington. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to her husband Joe.
