FARMINGTON - Frances "Pauline" Harrington of Farmington, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Country Meadows Nursing and Rehab in Park Hills at the age of 90. She was born September 27, 1933, in Farmington to the late George E. and Edna Mearl (Thomas) Shinn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Harrington; her five siblings, Maxine Ragsdale, George Shinn, Jr., Christine Miller, Darrell Shinn, and Barbara Shinn; a daughter-in-law, Diane Harrington and son-in-law, Dave Fountaine. Pauline, who was a lifelong resident of the area, graduated in 1950 from Farmington High School. On June 28, 1952, she married the love of her life, Vernon Harrington at the Methodist Church in Farmington. Except for the short time that took the couple to Alaska while Vernon was in the military, they made their home in Farmington. Pauline was a devoted mother who spent many hours sewing clothes and costumes for her children and keeping up with their busy schedules at school and sporting events. She was a long-time faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women, the Quilters Circle, and the Bereavement Dinner Committee. In her spare time, Pauline enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and canning. She was an excellent cook who will be most remembered for her yeast rolls and chicken and dumplings. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Preferred Hospice who gave wonderful care to Pauline in her final weeks. Survivors include three children, Rick Harrington of Farmington, Rod (Gaylan) Harrington of Springdale, Arkansas and Paula Fountaine of Desloge; six grandchildren, Angela (Kyle) Mertz, Amy (Travis) Gollub, Ryan Harrington, Justin (Amber) Cassidy, Tyler (Drew) Cassidy and Trent (Olivia) Cassidy; seven great grandchildren, Maggie, Ella, Atlas, Ruthie, Nixyn, Addisyn and Taylyn. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Paulines name to either the Farmington Pet Adoption Center or to Preferred Hospice.
