FARMINGTON - Paula Sue Karl, of Farmington, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 57. She was born April 17, 1958 in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Lou (Luetkemeyer) Luebbert. Paula was raised in Jefferson City and graduated from Helias Catholic High School in 1976, and later attended Missouri State University. She was united in marriage on October 20, 1984 to Thomas P. Karl at St. Joseph Cathedral in Jefferson City. Paula was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington. She volunteered at St. Joseph School, assisted at the church food pantry and participated in church prayer groups. Paula's strong faith in God guided her through life. She felt her greatest accomplishments were her 31-year marriage and the two wonderful and successful children she raised. Of all of her titles wife, mom, sister, aunt and friend, the one that brought the biggest smile to her face was "Gigi", the name given her by her beloved grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Tom Karl of Farmington; son Andrew "Andy" and wife Laura of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren Oliver and Lucy and their little sister due to arrive in the spring. Sisters Carol Clark and her husband Mike of Jefferson City, Missouri and Lissa Davis andher husband Brian of Naples, Florida; brothers Keith Bolten and his wife Linda of Jefferson City, Missouri; Lindel Bolten of Jefferson City, Missouri and Bill Luebbert and his wife Kathy of Belle Chasse, Louisiana; mother and father-in-law Stella and John Karl of Marion, Illinois; many nieces and nephews, a large extended family and a circle of close friends. A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington, with Father Tom Wissler officiating. Following the mass, friends and family will be received at Alexanders at the Factory in Farmington for visitation and reception until 4 p.m. Private interment will be held at a later date in Jefferson City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials, be made to the religious or charitable organization of the donor's choice.
