Paul Michael Eckardt

PARK HILLS - Paul Michael Eckardt of Park Hills, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 59 years. He was born September 26, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan son of the late Paul Matthew and Alice Virginia (Donlon) Eckardt. Upon graduation from high school in 1972 Paul enlisted and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, rising to the rank of Master Chief before retiring in 1995. Following his retirement he worked for the State of Missouri, and at the time of his passing he was employed with the Federal Government for the GSA in St. Louis. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, tending his yard, taking walks in the woods and spending time with nature. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him including his wife Beth A. (Light) Eckardt of Park Hills, four children Jerome and Jedediah Eckardt both of Pennsylvania, Alycia Eckardt of Farmington, and Travis Johns of Farmington, three grandchildren, Maya Johns, Oakley Johns, and Gage Eckardt, two special nephews, Shon Buchanan of Farmington, and Michael Buchanan of Texas, a special niece Lisa (Arnel) Hill of Texas, seven sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Per Paul's request there will be no formal services. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
