Paul J. Egan, Jr.

Paul John Egan, Jr. of Farmington, passed away January 17, 2013 at the age of 79. He was born July 16, 1933 in Clayton, Missouri to the late Paul John Egan, Sr. and Edith (Rader) Egan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hannah Schaar and Rose Emmons and two nieces, Anne Emmons and Jill Gansmann. Paul graduated in 1951 from Kirkwood High School and went on to college at Missouri School of Mines at Rolla where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending college he was a founding member of the Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Psi. On September 15, 1955, Paul enlisted in the U. S. Navy in Kansas City. He proudly served his country as a Naval aviator until being honorably discharged in 1962. On November 14, 1964 he married Charlene Pope in Fredericktown. In 1991 he retired from the Honeywell Company in St. Louis after 35 years of employment. Paul was an active member of several Lutheran Churches in various places he had lived and currently was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington. He loved golf and was a Cardinal baseball fan. Survivors include his wife, Charlene; two sons, Patrick Egan and wife, Catherine of Minneapolis, MN and Paul Egan, III of Burlington, VT; two grandsons, Thomas and Michael Egan; a sister, Ruth Gordon of Kirksville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Monday, January 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22 with Reverend Robert Eggers, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis with full Military honors. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
