Pastor James M. Molter

April 8, 1946 — June 20, 2010

Pastor James M. Molter of Farmington passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, at the age of 64 years. He was born on April 8, 1946, at Terre Haute, IN, the son of the late James and Minette (Manhart) Molter. James attended college at the Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, MS where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Theology. On August 21, 1965, after much persuasion on his part, he married his college sweetheart, Barbara Toler. He began pastoring at the age of 21 in Rockmart and Savannah, Georgia where his daughter, Andrea Dawn was born. Later he pastored in Topeka, Kansas and after a few years he was called to Doniphan, Missouri where he served as pastor for 14 years. His son, Nathaniel James was born into the family while he served in Doniphan. While there the church experienced a ten-week revival where 127 souls received the gift of the Holy Ghost. While in Doniphan, James served for many years as the UPC Missouri District Sunday School Director. At this same time, he was proud to have established Westpoint Christian Academy in Doniphan which is still thriving today under the direction of his nephew, Pastor Chuck Carr. In 1987, Pastor Molter moved on to accept an executive position with the United Pentecostal Church as Chicago Metro Coordinator where he served until he accepted the pastorate of the First United Pentecostal Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi where he later established the Solid Rock UPC. In 2003 James and his family came to the place they call "home", Farmington, Missouri where he was presently the Pastor of Apostolic Lighthouse, 772 Weber Road. In his spare time he could always be found near any body of water where he enjoyed boating, fishing, swimming and scuba diving, however, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family who he loved so dearly. James genuinely loved people and was a servant to all. In addition to his wife and two children, James is survived by his son-in-law, Scott Kronenberger; a sister, Carol Jean Carr and her husband, Charles Eugene Carr; two nieces and one nephew, Cheryl (Mrs. Calvin) Jean; Christina (Mrs. David) Reever and Pastor Chuck Carr and his wife, Misty and a sister-in-law, Stella (Mrs. Paulie) Glasco. A visitation for Pastor Molter's homegoing will be held Friday, June 25, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Leadbelt Pentecostal Church at 602 Berry Rd. in Bonne Terre. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the church under the direction of the Cozean Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Hillview Memorial Gardens, Farmington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church at 772 Weber Rd., Farmington, MO. View the online obituary and share your condolences at cozean.biz.
