Otis Adolph Brooks

Otis Adolph Brooks of Farmington passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012, at the age of 82. He was born on January 9, 1930, at Womack, son of the late Earl A. and May (Gray) Brooks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Brooks and a sister, Faye Hoyer. Otis was raised in Farmington and at the age of eighteen he enlisted in the U. S. Army and proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict. On May 23, 1964 he married Bessie Pirtle in Fredericktown. He worked at Trimfoot for seventeen years and went on to work for the Farmington Police Department as their Animal Control Officer until his retirement. He was a faithful member of the Gospel Light Free Will Baptist of Bonne Terre and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing. In addition to his wife of 48 years, Bessie, Otis is survived by two brothers, Harvey Brooks and wife, Mildred, and Vernon Brooks all of Greenville, IL; two sisters, Fern Schilli of Greenville, SC and Madonna Hansen of the state of Ohio; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lee Roy and Margaret Brooks Kemp. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning at 7 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m. with Reverend Larry Allison and Reverend Richard Barker officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Hillview Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gospel Light Free Will Baptist Church.
