Opal Ione Osborne formerly of Fredericktown passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 102 years, 8 months, and 2 days. She was born June 27, 1907 at Madison County, MO, daughter of the late George and Edna (Brown) Starkey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Everett O. Osborne. Mrs. Osborne was a recent member of Farmington Presbyterian Church and formerly a member of the Methodist Church in Fredericktown. She taught elementary school in Fredericktown for 44 years until her retirement. She also helped her husband with the store they owned, Osborne's Mens Clothing Store. For years Opal was the number one Worldbook Encyclopedia sales person in the country. After retirement she loved traveling. In more recent years she moved to Farmington where she enjoyed attending church, was active in the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and the Cottage Club. She is survived by her son, Everett Guthrie Osborne and his wife, Peggy, a grandson, Monty Osborne and one great-granddaughter, Bailey Osborne. Graveside services under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel will be held at Marcus Memorial Cemetery in Fredericktown on Friday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Paul Bembower officiating.
