FARMINGTON Ollie Alfred Niere of Farmington passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Parkland Health Center in Farmington. He was born on August 14, 1928 in St. Louis son of the late Theodore Henry and Alma Anna (Bachus) Niere. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Everett Niere and a sister Geneva Smith.
Mr. Niere proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired Carpenter and a member of the St. Louis Area Carpenter's Union. Following his retirement Ollie moved from St. Louis to Farmington making it his home for more than 25 years. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, particularly road trips and in years past he enjoyed woodworking. He was known as a talented trim carpenter and for his great sense of humor and his overall good nature.
He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him including his three children, Michael (& Angela) Niere of Phoenix, Arizona, Patricia ( & Kenneth) Mills of O'Fallon, and Wanda (& Garry) Bax of Defiance, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his dear friend and companion Doris King of Farmington and numerous friends and neighbors.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Friday at 11 a.m at the Laurel Hill Memorial Garden in St. Louis with the Reverend Ron Beaver officiating.
