Norman Ray Black

Norman Ray Black FARMINGTON Norman Ray Black, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on October 26, 2023, at Mercy Hospital South at the age of 87. He was born on August 11, 1936, in Owls Bend, Missouri, to the late Charley and Fay (Moss) Black. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Loretta (Daugherty) Black, his second wife Helen (Moring) Black, his grandson, Brad Griffin, and his siblings, JoAnn (the late Ed) Grisham and Gene (the late Ruthie) Black. Norman is survived by his daughters, Laurie Black of Farmington and Kay (John) Griffin of Farmington, his grandchildren, Chad (Sabrina) Griffin, Katie (Robbie) Britt, and Corenna (Guy) Haney, his great grandchildren, Byron (Tina), Morgan, Marah, Asher, Ethan, Ellie, Bradi, and Halle, his stepdaughter, Carol Ann (Mike Huffman) Welch of Farmington, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, and his special canine companion, Sassy. Norman earned his bachelors in education from Murray State University and his masters in education from Webster University. He taught middle school social studies for the North County School District for over 30 years. Norman was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1975. He taught Sunday school, assisted with funeral dinners, and went on numerous church trips. He was a volunteer for the Farmington Ministerial Alliance and the food pantry. He was a collector of many things and enjoyed reading, visiting the local library, going to flea markets and auctions, and traveling throughout the United States with Helen. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon officiated by Pastor Alan Berry.
