Nina Jean Blum Polansky

June 18, 1939 — October 28, 2023

ARNOLD Nina Jean Blum Polansky was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri, on June 18, 1939. She passed away peacefully on October 28, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She is the daughter of Harry Christopher White and Dosha Irene (Gant) White. When Nina was one month old, her mother passed away. She was raised primarily by her grandmother, Francis White. Nina married Roger A. Blum, Sr. and together raised four children. She was a devoted mother who went above and beyond for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Known for her fun-loving and spunky personality, Nina was also deeply loving, giving, nurturing, and protective of all she loved. She was also a beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Nina became a nurse, and eventually was the owner and administrator of her own nursing facilities. She made sure all her patients and residents were exceedingly well taken care of. She was known to check in unexpectedly during all shifts, even midnight, to make sure that all the staff were doing their jobs to care for the residents. Her strength, tenacity and humor showed through even up to her last days. Her nurses called her "feisty". Nina was fiercely independent, loving, loyal, and strong. All who were blessed to have her in their lives will greatly miss her. She is survived by her husband, E. Michael Polansky, her sister, Janet Graves, four children, Roger Blum, Jr. of Farmington, Monty (Remie) Blum of Farmington, Douglas Blum of Bonne Terre, and Shannon Cary of Herculaneum, eight grandchildren, Wayne Blum, Lindsay Kuehne, Brandon Bates, Adam Blum, Bailey Meczkowski, Sarah Blum, Hunter Cary, and Mackenzie Miner, her great-grandchildren, Ryder Cary, Jace Blum, Baylor Blum, Oliver Stricklin, and Nayvie Meczkowski and has another great grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two grandchildren, Jacob Blum and Natashia Blum, and a brother Harry G. White, Sr. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel.
