Nina Day

FARMINGTON - Nina Day of Farmington, formerly of Bixby, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 95 years. She was born June 19, 1920 in rural Crawford County, daughter of the late Denny and Effie (Callahan) Sellers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Alvalee Day, five brothers, Jesse Sellers, Herman Sellers, Willard Sellers, Johnny Sellers, and Clyde Sellers and two sisters Wilma Abrams and Gladyn Day. Nina grew up in the Viburnum area and attended school there. On July 5, 1939 at Salem, MO, she was united in marriage to Roman Day. Nina and Roman made their home in and around the Flat River area for many years where they raised their family. They then moved to Bixby where, they remained for thirty years. In 2005 they moved to Iron Mountain to be closer to family and friends. She was a proud homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Iron Mountain Assembly of God Church. In her spare time she enjoyed tending her flower gardens and before poor health prevented her from doing it, she enjoyed coon hunting with Roman and her grandsons. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her including her husband of 76 years, Roman Day of Farmington, son Dwight (Rosemary) Day of Bonne Terre, Diana (& Ronnie) Baker of Ironton, and Marcella Hughes of Roswell, GA, daughter-in-law Diane Day of Medical Lake, WA, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a brother Homer Sellers of Steelville; two sisters Daphene Potter of Steelville and Gladys Terry of Mt. Vernon, IL, and numerous other relatives and dear friends. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Iron Mountain Assembly of God Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Matt Prihoda officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Boss Cemetery in Boss.
