Nedra "Ernestine" Short

Ernestine Short, of Farmington, passed away December 12, 2014 at the age of 94. She was born August 15, 1920 to the late Clarence and Sadie (Hunt) Johnson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester E. Short in 2001, two brothers and one sister. A native of Esther, Ernestine lived most of her life in the Flat River area. She helped her husband, Lester, in his insurance business. In 1986 they moved to Farmington where she and Lester enjoyed retirement. She was a wonderful cook whose specialty was chicken and dumplings. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her children, Karen (Marvin) Alexander, of Herculaneum, Ann (James) Robart, of Potosi, Rick (Debbie) Short of Ste. Genevieve, Tina Short, of Fredericktown and Diana (Bob) Windsor of Farmington; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, December 15 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor John Swatosh officiating. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
