Myrtle "Dixie" Jones

October 12, 1919 — December 29, 2014

Myrtle "Dixie" Dorothy (Dugan) Jones, of Farmington passed away December 29, 2014 in Farmington at the age of 95 years, 2 months, and 17 days. She was born in De Soto on October 12, 1919, daughter of the late Sylvas Lee and Eunice (Reppy) Dugan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, LTC William E. Jones Retired, whom she married August 23, 1951 in De Soto. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert L. Dugan and wife, Mildred (Dodson) Dugan, brother, Geroge D. Dugan and Clyde N. "Bo" Dugan and sister-in-law, Audrey (Hensley) Dugan; a niece, Judy (Jones) Copeland and a great niece, Bonnie Sansoucie. During World War II, Dixie was a civilian employee of the U.S. Army in San Antonio, Texas. Then she was a manager for Sears in De Soto. She was an active member of the Bismarck United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where she held many offices. In 1990's she moved to Farmington and transferred her membership to the Memorial United Methodist Church. She was an active member in the United W omen's organization in both churches. Dixie was a full time homemaker and an excellent seamstress. She sewed alter cloths for the church, contributed many items for the church bazaars and made many keepsake quilts. After moving to Farmington and in her later years, she enjoyed traveling the world with friends and loved telling stories of all she had seen. Survivors include her brother, Stanley F. "Dink" Dugan, nieces Sandra (Ron) Stewart, Marie Knoll, Frances Hayes, and nephew F.E. Jones. Visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 - 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning from 9 - 10:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Robert Bullock officiating. Interment will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorial, if desired may be made to the Farmington OAKS Senior Center.
