Michael Upchurch

Mike Upchurch, of Farmington, passed away March 22, 2015 at the age of 69. He was born May 22, 1945 in Bismarck to the late Byron and Ruth Lucille Upchurch. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Byron "Chuck" Blose and a step-grandson, Josiah McFarland. Mike graduated from Farmington High School in 1963 and soon after graduation he enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Upon his return to civilian life he pursued his Associate Degree in Business Administration from Mineral Area College. He then went to work as an insurance agent for the Upchurch Insurance Agency. After working in the insurance industry for 28 years, he then began a wholesale business. In 2010 he retired and enjoyed his lifelong love of the outdoors. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Beth (Janis) Upchurch; his children, Tracy Upchurch, Andy (Janet) McFarland, Cathy (Aaron) King and John Upchurch; eight grandchildren; a sister, Susan Blose; and a nephew, Chris Blose. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 25, at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 - 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Elder Stan Reiner officiating.
