FARMINGTON Michael Joe VanStavern of Farmington was called from this life to life eternal on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the age of 46 years, 9 months and 25 days. He was born at Lebanon on January 7, 1970. Mike grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School. He went on to attend and graduated in 1992 from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. Following graduation he became a partner in the family business of Hotel Planning & Development, a venture which soon blossomed and expanded under his management. In 1994 he married the love of his life, Kimberly Ann McClanahan and soon after he and Kim moved from Lebanon to make Farmington their home. Over the past 22 years his business was involved with the planning and development of local hotels, Super 8, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn Express as well as numerous other hotels in Missouri and throughout the Mid-West. Currently Mike was the co-owner of the Farmington Holiday Inn Express. When not involved with his business ventures Mike enjoyed traveling and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fan, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and friends.
On July 20, 1978 at the age of 8, Mike accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and just a few days later on July 23rd he was Baptized into God's Family. Mike was a member and strong supporter of the St. Paul Lutheran Church & School but also attended the New Heights Church of Farmington. Both congregations were blessed by his fellowship and support.
Mike will be missed by all those who knew and loved him including his wife, Kimberly Ann (McClanahan) VanStavern of Farmington, three sons, Alec Michael, Chase Alexander, and Ryder Destin VanStavern all of Farmington, his parents Tommy Joe and Margaret Fay (Bailey) VanStavern of Lebanon, a sister Lisa Jo, and her husband, Shannon Barclay of Lebanon, a niece and nephew Maddison and Hunter Barclay of Lebanon, his dear cousin and business partner Mark Randolph as well as numerous other relatives, dear friends, and neighbors.
