Melvin Gene Higgins

FARMINGTON - Melvin Gene Higgins of Farmington, passed away, Saturday, November 17, 2012 at his home at the age of 58. He was born December 17, 1953 at Marion, Tennessee, son of Mildred (Johnson) Higgins-Smith and the late Cecil Higgins. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother Crandel Smith, and his step-father Kenneth Smith. Gene was a well liked and friendly member of the community and never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him, including his mother Mildred "Sarah" Smith of Farmington, brother Craig Smith of Pilot Knob, a niece and nephew, cousins and many good friends and neighbors. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel with a funeral service following at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Farmington. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Safe Harbor Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
