Melinda Sue Bays

FARMINGTON Melinda Sue Bays of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on August 31, 2021, at Missouri Baptist Hospital at the age of 53. Melinda was born on July 3, 1968, in Centreville, Illinois to Charles and Janet "Sue" (Black) Bays. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Bays. Melinda is survived by her parents, Charles and Janet "Sue" Bays of Park Hills, her siblings, Steven (and wife Laura) Bays of Sikeston and Mary Bays of Farmington, her stepson, Derek Detring of Farmington, her niece, Bayleigh Cates, who was also like a daughter, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her special canine companion, Gabbie. Melinda was a lifelong resident of the Farmington community and a 1986 graduate of Farmington High School. She previously worked as a psychiatric aide for Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center. Melinda was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed swimming and the beach. She was an animal lover and loved going to horse shows with Bayleigh and watching her ride. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Friday, September 3 at 7:00am until time of service at 1:00pm with Pastor Stephen Constien officiating. Interment to follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
