Maxine Poston

FARMINGTON - Marie "Maxine" Poston passed away at Cedarhurst Nursing Care in Farmington, Missouri on Christmas Eve afternoon, 2023 at the age of 97. She was born on March 10, 1926, in Flat River, Missouri, to her parents, the late Ruth (Rhodes) LaBrot and Raymond LaBrot. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, Harold (Edna), Elmo (Virginia), Emory (Margaret), Dorothy (Mrs. Harold) Straughan and Charles and Carolyn. Also, brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil Ellis, Morris Poston (Pat), and Myra (Leonard) Simpson. Maxine is survived by her sister, Virginia (Cecil) Ellis of Indiana and the LaBrot nieces and nephews, Jim, Ron, Charles, Glenda Ruth, Cindy, Patty, Michele, Katharine and Karen; the Poston nieces and nephews, Brian, Irene, and Lynne Anne and great grandchildren, Lane and Marley. On July 3, 1949, Maxine and Glenwood Burnette Poston were united in marriage in Bonne Terre, Missouri. They moved to the Kansas City area and remained there for over 60 years. They had one son, Michael, grandson, Chase and two great grandchildren. A while after her husband's death, she moved to Farmington to be near to her sister, Dorothy and her two nieces, Kathy (Joe) Stewart and Karen Young and families so that they could look after her. Maxine and Burnette were faithful members of Gashland United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. After moving to Farmington, she attended Memorial United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. A graveside service for friends and family will be held at a later date.
