Max Douglas Bellamy

FARMINGTON- Max Douglas Bellamy of Farmington, passed away, Saturday July 20, 2013 at his home at the age of 89 years. He was born February 10, 1927 at Poplar Bluff, son of the late John Richard and Stella (Woods) Bellamy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Sue Bellamy, three brothers, and two sisters. Max proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Washington National Insurance, where he had worked as a sales agent. He was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington and an active member of the Bismarck VFW Post # 6947. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and building things, in particularly, houses. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sophie (Brzozwski) Bellamy of Farmington, two daughters, Ava Roxanne Blankenship of O'Fallon and Veronica Bellamy-Wood of Peoria, AZ, three sons Michael Douglas Bellamy of Iron Mountain, Mark Duane Bellamy of Pacific, and Timothy Alan Bellamy of Omaha, NE; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law who were raised in his home, John Marion Brzozwski and Kristina Barbara Neidballa, three foster children William, Joseph and Rebecca Elldege, a brother James Bellamy of Georgia, sister Virginia Young of St. Charles, and numerous other relatives and friends. Friends may call after 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory with Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. VFW services will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning after 7 a.m until 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington at 10 a.m. with Father James Dyer as celebrant. Interment with full Military Honors will take place at the New Calvary Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to Masses or Safe Harbor Hospice.
