Mary Voertmann

August 13, 1944 — April 16, 2015

FARMINGTON - Mary Jo Voertmann of Farmington passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 70 years. She was born August 13, 1944 at Ashby, Nebraska daughter of the late Charles Plummer and Myrtle M. (King) Blaylock. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Darrell Ray Mitchell in 1998. Prior to retirement, Mary Jo was for many years employed by the Central School District as an Elementary School Teacher at West Elementary in Park Hills. She was a long-time and faithful member of the Farmington Christian Church Disciples of Christ where she served as a Church Elder and Sunday School Teacher and was active in the Daughters of Ruth, Women's Connection, the Parish Life Committee, and numerous other Bible Studies. In her spare time she enjoyed memorizing Bible verses, gardening, traveling, and cooking particularly baking, at which she was most talented. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her including her husband, Frank W. Voertmann of Farmington, son Adam Ray Mitchell of Farmington, step-children Bart Mitchell, Gary Mitchell, and Kevin Mitchell all of Farmington, Kim (Matt) Amsden, Kristi (Denny) Herbst, Kathryn (Tony) Lewis all of Farmington and Karah (Paul) Cain of Bonne Terre, eight grandchildren, Addisyn Mitchell, Stella Melton, Kayce Amsden, Kassidy Tiefenauer, Kaylan Herbst, Klaire Lewis, Kate, Lewis, Karoline Lewis, Kolby Cain, and Kolt Cain, two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Erwin and Kort Tiefenaur, seven brothers and sisters, Jim (Shirley) Blaylock of Colorado, Bob (Avis) Blaylock of North Carolina, Becky (Mick) McCawley of Colorado, Kenny ( Fay Ann) Blaylock of Nebraska, Goldie (Paul) Muzquiz of Nebraska, Stanley (Susan) Blaylock of South Dakota and Keith (Connie) Blaylock of Nebraska. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, and neighbors also survive. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday after 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. A funeral service will be held at the Farmington Christian Church Disciples of Christ at 11 a.m. with the Reverends Larry Colvin and Dale Berck officiating. Interment will be in Hillview Memorial Gardens at Farmington. Memorials if desired may be made to the Farmington Christian Church Disciples of Christ Memorial Fund.
