MURRIETA, CALIFORNIA - Dr. Mary Margaret Cozean Alexander, of Hemet, California was welcomed to Heaven by our Lord on January 2, 2021 at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Murrieta at the age of 76. She was born January 22, 1944 to the late Hugo and Zelda (Martin) Cozean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robin Cozean, Dr. Charles H. Cozean and brother-in-law, Donald Jacob. She was loved and adored by her late husband, James Alexander, who passed away December 23, 2021; her son, Kevin Alexander and his wife, Suan, as well as Mary's brother and sisters, Dr. Jon Cozean, Jody (Mrs. Harry) Styron and Mrs. Nancy Jacob. Mary had an eternally positive outlook on life, and she greeted adversity with cheerfulness and dignity. She had a delightful and thoughtful personality, always concerned for the well-being of others and eager to look for the best in people whom she knew and loved. Having grown up in Farmington, Missouri, Mary followed her calling as a teacher from an early age and devoted her life to education. She earned her doctoral degree in 1991 from Florida State University. In 2015 she and her husband, Jim moved from Florida's Gulf Coast to Southern California to be closer to their son. There will be a joint memorial service for both Mary and Jim Alexander on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Share your condolences at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
