Mary Louise Licklider

BISMARCK – Mary L. Licklider of Bismarck entered eternal rest on September 15, 2024, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center at the age of 69. She was born on April 6, 1955, in St. Louis, to Pearley and Irene (Gibson) Layton.

Mary is survived by her children, Angela (Corey) Kreitler of Farmington, Ron (Lori) Smith of Farmington, and Joe (Melissa) Smith of Park Hills, her stepchildren, Verniece Smith of Herculaneum and William Edward Smith Jr. of Bismarck, her grandchildren, Hailey Thomas Kreitler, Melaina Kreitler, Aiden Smith, Taylor (Angelika) Smith, Dustin Smith, Alexandria Smith, Sydney Smith, Collin Smith, and Charlotte, Smith  along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Pearly and Irene Layton, her husbands, William Edward Smith Sr. and Wilbert Licklider, and her siblings, Eddie Layton, Harold (the late Virginia) Layton, Willa (the late Bob) Devine, Anna (the late Mel) Jordan, and Doris (the late Lee) Phipps.

Mary worked as an LPN at several hospitals and nursing homes in the area. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, online games, and music. She was a very social and independent woman and loved her family very much. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
