Mary Elizabeth Whaley

FARMINGTON - Mary Elizabeth Whaley of Farmington passed away November 6, 2016 at Parkland Health Center at the age of 94. She was born in Flat River, Missouri on November 27, 1921 to the late Barney Franklin Casteel and Bertha Lena (Yeager) Casteel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Whaley in 2010, a son, Robert Casteel; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Casteel and two brothers, Orville and Leonard Casteel.

Mary was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary as well as the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. A long time resident of the area, Mary was active in many community endeavors. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Melissa (John) Huddleston of High Ridge and Ray (Kathy) Casteel of St. Louis; great grandchildren, Keali (Jeremy) Zinn, Erica (Jeff) Marquart, Dylan Casteel and Hannah Casteel; a special friend who was like one of Mary's family, Tracy Fisher.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 5 8 p.m. with an American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday beginning at 12 noon with services to follow at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Scott Hall officiating.
