Mary Anna Eaves

June 9, 1915 — March 24, 2018

Mary Anna Eaves passed away the home of her son Marvin on March 24, 2018 at the age of 102 years. She was born on June 9, 1915, in St. Francois later a part of Flat River, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Marianna (Tomascek) Benko who immigrated to this country in 1912. Mrs. Eaves was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John T. Eaves, her daughter, Bonnie June (Eaves) McGee, and her brother, Steve Benko.

Mary's parents moved the family to a farm in the Chestnut Ridge community when she was very small. She was united with the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her death. Through World War II and beyond she worked for Rice Stix as a seamstress. As a farm wife in the Pleasant Hill community she also developed strong ties to these friends and neighbors who made it possible for her to live for extended years at home.

She is survived by son Marvin (Ruth Ann) Eaves of Green Ridge, MO and their children, Mikaela (Casey) DeVorss, Lauren Eaves, and Sean (Ashli) Eaves. Also surviving are Bonnie's children, Elizabeth Ann (Stanley) McCrorey of Bonne Terre, MO and Harold Dean (Sherry) McGee of Chicago, IL. Mrs Eaves has a surviving sister, Pauline (Benko) Wigger of Bakersfield, CA, seven great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

A strong woman of both body and spirit, she will be missed by those who love her.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 29 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will resume at 7 a.m. on Friday morning until time of service beginning at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
