STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY Martin Redmond, of Farmington passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the age of 95. He was born in Wilhelmina, Missouri on May 2, 1922, to the late Harry and Alice (Alvey) Redmond. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean (Bowen) Redmond; two sons, Robert Vincent Redmond and Martin Eugene Redmond; three grandchildren and three siblings, Lucille Richards, Eugene Redmond, infant brother, Harry Redmond and Gladys Gegg.
Martin had been a long time resident of Ste. Genevieve County where he maintained a large farm. After proudly serving his country in the U. S. Army during WWII, Martin went to work for Mississippi Lime Company. He retired from there in 1985 after 37 years. He was a very hard worker and also did mechanic work as a side job. His family will remember that he always had a "story" to tell. Mowing hay was one of his favorite things to do and that is how he spent his last day. He also enjoyed playing Skipbo and watching the Cardinals play baseball.
Survivors include his children, Paul (Wanda) Redmond, Patricia Rohrer, Doris (Dwayne) Canterberry, Peggy (Ron) Slade, Linda (Randy) Grogan, Garry (Niney) Redmond, Cathern Fox, Larry (Franny) Redmond, Mike (Michele) Redmond, Julie (Linn) Tucker, and Sherri (Ray) Johnson; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Marie, Margie, Pauline and Dorothy ; brothers, Francis, Tommy, Bernard and Larry; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend David Wright officiating. Interment will be in the New Calvary Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
