Martha Boyd

Martha Ann Boyd of Farmington passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014, at the age of 75. She was born on August 30, 1938, at Ironton, daughter of the late Joseph N. and Essie (Royer) Allgier. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Essie Bernadette and a brother, Arthur Allgier. Martha was raised on a farm in rural Flatwoods Township near Ironton. She was one of eight children who attended school in a one room school house. After graduation from high school she attended and graduated from Missouri Beauty Academy. She married Donald Boyd on March 13, 1957. She was a stay at home mom who raised her four sons and many "adopted" neighborhood kids at her home in Farmington. She will be remembered as a kind hearted, fun-loving person to all who knew her. In her spare time, Martha volunteered at the Ministerial Alliance Thrift Store and more recently she spent much of her time assisting her four sons and grandchildren in their many endeavors and everyday projects. Her greatest passion was sitting on her front porch with a cup of coffee at sunrise reflecting on the beauty of the morning. Survivors in addition to her beloved husband, Donald, are her four sons, Donald (Cheryla) Boyd, Ronald Boyd, Michael T. Boyd and Kevin Boyd, all of Farmington; eight grandchildren, Thomas, Joseph, Molly, Billy, Samantha, Dillon T., Michala and Lyndy; two great-grandchildren, Landyn and Noah; sisters, Grace Lerche and Emma Brown; brothers, Joseph Allgier, Carl Allgier and Robert Allgier; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, July 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday morning beginning at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Father James Unterreiner officiating.
