Marion Lee Hutchings

PHOENIX, AZ - Marion Lee Hutchings, formerly of Farmington, passed away on April 23 at the age of 90 in Phoenix, AZ after a series of serious illnesses and a lifetime filled with diversity and a life well lived. He was born in Flat River November 7, 1921, the sixth of seven children of Eugene and Elzie Hutchings. Lee served as a dental technician in the U. S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War traveling throughout the Mediterranean and Africa. Following his military service he returned to the Leadbelt ad worked at Boswell Furniture Store in Farmington. He later moved to Phoenix where he lived for more than 35 years as a businessman, educator and artist. His work included owning Telco Supply, a discount furniture store in downtown Phoenix, serving as a teacher, principal and superintendent in Pendergast School District and creating beaded necklaces and jewelry. In the late 80's he returned to Missouri living both in Farmington and St. Louis Hills where he restored old homes, two of which were on Columbia Street in Farmington. He returned to Phoenix due to health issues earlier this year. Mr. Hutchings is survived by his sister, Ruth King of Phoenix; his brother, Bob Hutchings of Twin Falls, ID; five nieces; two nephews; eleven great and great-great nieces and nephews as well as many friends and caregivers who will miss his stories, his humor and his generosity. Inurnment will be held at Marvin Chapel Cemetery near Bonne Terre on Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service to celebrate Lee's life at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
