Marilyn Ruth Bell

FARMINGTON – Marilyn Ruth Bell of Farmington passed to her eternal home on January 16, 2025, at Community Manor at the age of 84. She was born August 3, 1940, at Libertyville, Missouri to the late Paul Holmes and Ruby (Pirtle) Holmes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Roy Phillip Bell in 2018, and a sister, Kathleen Parmley.

A graduate of Farmington High School, Marilyn’s first job was at the pants factory in Farmington. She then went to work in the dietary department at the Southeast Mental Health Facility. Later she worked for Parkland Hospital where she retired after 27 years of service in the housekeeping department.

Marilyn was a nurturing person who loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She also loved her little dogs. She was a big fan of Conway Twitty’s music.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, including her three children, Keith (Glenda) Bell, Nancy (Paul) Barton, and Rebecca Bell; six grandchildren, Keith Bell Jr., Courtney Wurst, Cody (Jetaime Hovis) Bell, Miranda (Jake) Lewis, Dalton Cooper, and Peyton Blackwell; 15 great-grandchildren, and her special dog, Milo.

Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel on Monday morning until the funeral service at 10 a.m. with Rev. David Parmley officiating. Interment will follow at Libertyville Christian Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
