Marie Bennett

Marie Bennett of Desloge passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Camelot Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 84 years. She was born September 10, 1926 at Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of the late Pete and Tila (Nuno) Sanchez. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Garcia, a son Carlos Williams, and a grandson, Travis Williams. Marie's first vocation was motherhood, having raised five children she later entered the Christian Mission Field and traveled to many parts of the world helping to teach children and youth. After retiring from mission work, Marie moved to Missouri to be closer to family, and had attended First Baptist Church of Delassus. In her spare time she enjoyed putting together puzzels and reading her Bible. Marie will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, including two daughters, Nina Smith of Dallas, TX and Jennifer Hovis and husband John of Desloge, a son Joseph Williams and wife Brenda of Bonne Terre, a brother Augie Sanchez and sister Mary Sanchez Lopez both of Yuma, AZ, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Many other relatives and close friends also survive. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 5 until 7 p.m. A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the St. Francois Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel of Peace with the Reverend Charlie Shrum officiating. Entombment will be in the St. Francois Memorial Park Mausoleum. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
