Margaret Helen Stacy

Helen Stacy of Farmington passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the age of 88 years. She was born on July 3, 1923, at Fredericktown, the daughter of Lawrence and Maggie (Downs) Stevenson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Finley Stacy in 1980; two brothers, Henry and Bill Stevenson and an infant brother, Robert Louis Stevenson. Helen grew up in Fredericktown where she graduated high school in 1941. She worked for the Brown Shoe Factory in Fredericktown. In September 8, 1950 she married Finley Paul Stacy in St. Louis. They moved to the state of Indiana where they raised their family. In 1986 she moved back to the Farmington area where she lived with her sister until settling into her own home. She was a faithful and active member of the Farmington Christian Church. She will be remembered for her creative writing and was a published author. She enjoyed writing poetry and short stories which she shared publicly on many occasions. She was also a talented painter. Traveling was a favorite pastime of Helen's and she loved being in the outdoors. In her later years she embraced modern technology and was computer literate and loved texting her family and friends. Survivors include her two sons, Glenn Stacy and Steve Stacy both of the state of Indiana; two granddaughters; her sister, Frances Clark of Farmington; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory on Wednesday, May 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 7 a.m. until the beginning of the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with the Reverend Dale Berck officiating. Interment will follow at Marcus Memorial Cemetery in Fredericktown. Memorials may be made to the Farmington Christian Church Memorial Fund.
