Margaret G. DeLassus of Cedar Hill, formerly of Farmington, passed away Tuesday, January 05, 2010, at Saint Clare Health Center in Fenton at the age of 87 years. She was born on June 24, 1922, at Ste. Genevieve, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Sampson) Basler. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Quentin DeLassus, a twin sister, Gertrude Valle and a brother, Raymond Basler. Margaret was a homemaker for many years. She was also employed at Trimfoot Shoe Factory and the Selmore Garment Factory. One of her greatest joys was working as a caregiver for the St. Francois County Board for the Developmentally Disabled Group Home, from where she retired after her health no longer allowed her to work. She was a long-time and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington. She was also a member of the Bon Vivant Day Club of Fenton where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. Margaret was known for her collection of more than 300 Teddy Bears, which she later donated to the Abused Womans Shelter of Branson. She enjoyed kisses, hugs, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great nephew. Other favored activities were gardening, fishing, bingo, game shows, trips to the casino, visiting the Farmington Senior Center and annual trips to Branson for the past 18 years, where she especially enjoyed sitting in the front row at the Mickey Gilley Theatre. Margaret was always full of life and enjoyed living to its fullest. In her lifetime, she was one of the most grateful, loving, caring, and giving individuals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, including three daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Gascic of Arnold, Bonnie (Michael ) Coursen of Cedar Hill, and Carla (Daryl) Gress of Charlottesville, VA; a sister, Marie Arnold of Ste. Genevieve; six grandchildren, Tim Gascic, Beth (Brian) Martinez, Robert Daniel, Lisa (Kevin) Damron, Evan and Emily Gress; five great grandchildren, Justine, Corey, Emily, Leah and Drew; a very special sister-in-law, Leone Kreitler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
