TERRE DU LAC Marcia Gale (DeGrant) Shumake of Terre Du Lac passed away January 12, 2016 at Community Manor in Farmington at the age of 61 following a courageous, three year battle with cancer. She was born December 31, 1954 to the late Frances Wampler. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by two sisters, Willa Mae Gore and Connie Gore; a brother, Buford Afton"Sonny" DeGrant and a nephew, Matthew Young.
A life long area resident, Marcia will be remembered for her unbelievable work ethic. Among various careers, she worked for many years as a Corrections Officer for the State of Missouri. She was a dedicated and devoted mother and doting grandmother who cherished her grandchildren. Marcia was a wonderful cook who lived for the next holiday so she could plan and cook a great family meal.
Survivors include her two daughters, Carrie Ann (Lonnie) LaChance and Tonya Gale (Shannon) Rodgers, all of Farmington; five beloved grandchildren, Chad (Vicki) LaChance, Erica Seibert, William Seibert, Sara Gale LaChance and Rachael Rodgers; one precious great granddaughter, Chloe LaChance; two sisters, Shirley Hall and Rebecca (Paul) Young; and one brother Randall (Janet) DeGrant. She also leaves behind the love of her life Andrew McElwain as well as a host of extended family and friends.
